Questions and answers

What is Kutty Phonics?

Kutty Phonics is an English phonics app for Malayali children. It teaches the 48 sounds of English in 128 short levels across 8 Kerala worlds, with Naina Teacher explaining in Malayalam and Arun Sir in English, a Malayalam sound bridge for every sound, and 11 games.

What age is Kutty Phonics for?

Children aged 3 to 8. Three and four year olds enjoy it most with a grown-up beside them; older children who struggle with spelling can start from the beginning and move quickly.

Does my child need to know English already?

No. Lessons start from Malayalam sounds a child already knows, and Naina Teacher explains everything in Malayalam.

Do I need to speak good English to help?

No. The explanations are in Malayalam, so parents can learn alongside their child. Saying the sounds together is the best help.

Is Kutty Phonics free?

The first two worlds (12 sounds and 32 levels), Letters & Sounds from A to Z, Today's challenge and all the rewards are free. Premium unlocks the rest.

How much does Premium cost?

In India Premium is ₹99 a month, ₹499 a year, or ₹1,999 once and forever. Prices in other countries are shown by the App Store and Google Play. Subscriptions renew until cancelled in your store account.

How do I cancel a subscription?

On iPhone or iPad: Settings, your name, Subscriptions, Kutty Phonics. On Android: Play Store, your profile picture, Payments and subscriptions, Subscriptions. Premium stays on until the end of the period you paid for.

Does it work without the internet?

Yes. Every voice, picture and game is inside the app, so it works fully offline.

Is it safe for my child?

Yes. There are no ads, no accounts, no chat and no tracking, and the app collects no data. Settings, teacher tools and links out of the app ask a grown-up question, and every purchase is confirmed by the App Store or Google Play.

Naina Teacher or Arun Sir: which should I choose?

Choose Naina Teacher if your child understands Malayalam best: she explains every sound in Malayalam. Choose Arun Sir for English only. You can switch at any time in Settings.

How is it different from other phonics programmes?

Kutty Phonics teaches synthetic phonics in a planned order, as many school programmes do, but it is made for Malayali children: every sound is linked to a Malayalam sound, picture words come with Malayalam meanings, and the sounds Kerala English mixes up are practised on purpose. It is not connected with any other phonics brand.

Can teachers use it in class?

Yes. The Teacher Corner has Class Battle for two teams, full-screen flashcards with a slideshow, and any lesson in one tap. See Kutty Phonics in the classroom.

Can I show it on a TV or projector?

Yes. Use AirPlay screen mirroring on iPhone and iPad, or Cast or Smart View on Android. Every screen adapts to wide TV sizes.

Can several children use one phone?

Yes. Add each child in Settings, Learners. Each child keeps their own stars, coins and stickers.

Which devices does it run on?

iPhone and iPad, and Android phones and tablets. It is coming soon to the App Store and Google Play.
